THREE IRISH KIDS!

This write-up relates to the photograph of the THREE IRISH KIDS!
From the left .. Paddy, Jerry in middle, Mary on right. Note the ball
location. Note Jerry's left eye slightly swollen. The story told by my
mother was that in an effort to get the ball off Jerry, I accidentally
poked him in the eye. You will, however, note who has the ball!
I have such fond childhood memories of growing up with
Jerry. When he was going to Salesian College and
I was going to The London Oratory he was so patient
and caring in helping me with my homework!
He was always "My big brother" ... none of the children in the
neighborhood would "mess" with us ... and I often
heard - don't annoy her --- she's one of those
Irish kids with all the brothers that box!
I fondly remember how nervous Jerry and Betty were
they came to the house to tell mum and dad that they were
getting married. What a wonderful long and happy marriage
they had ... I never heard one of them say one bad word about
the other!
When Betty was very young, I would sometimes see her on
the train that I took to school ..... Jerry was in the Air Force at the
time but I knew they were "dating". She would always ask, in a shy
voice:
"Is Jerry coming home this weekend?" She has always loved him!!!
She was a wonderful wife throughout the whole long-lasting
marriage! He often told me that he wouldn't know what to do
without her!
He was always protective of all his siblings ...if I was five minutes late
getting home at night - him and my dad would be walking down
to Ladbroke Grove Station to walk me home ..... God help the
poor chap that might have been with me ..... Jerry would give
him a lecture about no decent lad keeping me out 'til that hour ...
not to mention the words uttered from my dad!
Jerry and I shared many phone calls between the U.S. and the
U.K. and he always made me laugh recalling some of our
childhood memories!
I will miss him but I know he is at peace now. He had a tendency
to worry about "everything" .... it is comforting to know that he
is watching over all of us now and he is at rest!
Take care of all of us Jeremiah Christopher!
Your loving sister.
Mary
